Akshay Kumar's first collaboration with Rohit Shetty is getting bigger and bigger every day. Yes, we are talking about Sooryavanshi, which is the fourth instalment in the director's Cop Universe. A glimpse of Akshay as Sooryavashi was caught in Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba which released last year. In the film, Akshay plays the role of an ATS chief and he kickstarted the shoot a week back in Mumbai. The movie also marks Akshay and Katrina Kaif's reunion after a decade.
In Rohit Shetty films, the main antagonist is almost like a parallel lead and something to look out for. For Sooryavasnhi, the action-comedy director has roped in Abhimanyu Singh to play the main villain. Abhimanyu is known for his roles in movies namely Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Mom, Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara!, Jannat to name a few.
Taking about being a part of Sooryavanshi, Singh stated to Mumbai Mirror, "It began when Rohit sir saw my 2017 Tamil action-thriller Theeran, which was based on a true story. It was a big hit in which I had played a villain with heroic shades. He liked my performance in that film and thought that I would fit the role of the baddie in Sooryavanshi. It so happens that I live near Rohit sir’s office and one day, he called me over and congratulated me for bagging the part."
Abhimanyu added, "It’s an interesting role. Akshay sir and I have known each other for a while now and it has been a great shoot from the first day. It was a serious scene and we had to complete it in a day, which we did. It was lovely shooting with Akshay sir and Rohit sir made me feel as if we have known each other for years."
