In a new medical bulletin and a health update on SP Balasubrahmanyam has confirmed that the veteran singer is under maximal life support and extremely critical. Hospital confirmed the news on Thursday.
MGM Healthcare had said in a health bulletin, "Thiru S P Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM Healthcare on August 5, remains on ECM° and other life support measures. His condition in the last 24 hours has deteriorated further warranting maximal life support and he is extremely critical. The team of experts at MGM Healthcare is closely monitoring his health condition," said Dr. Anuradha Baskaran, Assistant Director - Medical Services MGM Healthcare.
This update comes just two weeks after the hospital had confirmed that the veteran singer's condition is stable but requires ECMO and ventilator support. The report also mentioned that SPB was awake, responsive and his vitals were satisfactory, however, the current condition requires an extended stay in ICU.
Earlier, in a video, his son SP Charan had also said that after more than a month-long battle, veteran singer SP Balasubrahmanyam had tested negative for the novel coronavirus.
He had further added that SPB's lungs were healing and the doctors are hoping to take him off the ventilator soon. Charan also revealed that SPB is fully awake and responsive and has been keeping himself occupied by watching a lot of tennis and cricket matches on his iPad.
In addition to this, Charan also said that they celebrated his dad and mom Savitri's wedding anniversary at the hospital and that SP Balasubrahmanyam is conveying his thoughts to the nurses and doctors by writing on a piece of paper.
