Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda, who were arrested by NCB in drug conspiracy in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case, will remain in 4-day custody

After Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda were detained and later arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday, they were produced before the court earlier today (on Saturday, September 5). The two will be under 4-day custody with the NCB.

Showik and Samuel were presented before Espalanade court in Mumbai. NCB Joint Director Sameer Wankhede had confirmed their arrest and that they would be produced before the court.

In court, NCB seeked 7-day custody for Showik and Samuel. They also seeked judicial custody of Kaizen Ibrahim. Satish Maneshinde appeared for remand proceedings of actor Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik.

Kaizen Ibrahim, Zaid Vilatra and Abdul Basit Parihar also appeared before the sessions court in Mumbai. Zaid and Basit applied for bail in the sessions court, the verdict of which is still awaited.

NCB will also record the statement of Dipesh Sawant, who was a witness in the case. Deputy Director of NCB, KPS Malhotra, has stated that Dipesh was not arrested because he serves the role of a witness.

Before appearing in court, Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, Zaid and Kaizen Ibrahim were taken to Sion Hospital for medical examination. They were tested for the ongoing deadly COVID-19.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) found a drug link while probing Showik in the case. Soon after NCB gathered evidence and stated that they arrested Chakraborty and Miranda after finding strong evidences against them.
