Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Amrita Rao starrer Thackeray has witnessed a massive jump on day 2 of its release. The film which chronicles the life and times of Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray, raked in a total of Rs 16 crore at the box office on day two.

Thackeray - the film's total box office collections now stand at Rs 16 crore in two days. The film has done exceptionally well in the state of Maharashtra where it recorded the maximum business. 

Trade pundits suggest that the other circuits oustide Maharashtra too are picking up and are showing an upward trend in its collections. The Marathi version continues to dominate the collections on day two as well, much like the opening day. 

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to share the box office figures of the film. He wrote, "#Thackeray biz jumps on Day 2... Gets the benefit of #RepublicDay holiday... While #Maharashtra continues to lead, the remaining circuits show an upward trend on Day 2... #Marathi version is excellent... Fri 6 cr, Sat 10 cr. Total: ₹ 16 cr. India biz. #Hindi #Marathi"

Thackeray, which is Balasaheb Thackery's biopic, has mostly opened to positive review and is riding high on a good word of mouth. The movie did benefit from the Republic Day holiday on day two. Day three is supposed to see further rise in its collections.
