Deepika Padukone, who has already been tagged the Queen of Box Office, did those roles on-screen for two movies back-to-back i.e. for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.
In Bajirao Mastani, Deepika played a lover of king Bajirao, who was already married to Kashibai. She romanced Ranveer (Bajirao) and eventually became a wife and half-Queen of the Kingdom. On the contrary, Deepika played a queen in Padmaavat (Rani Padmavati) who got married to Maharawal Ratan Singh (played by Shahid Kapoor) whereas her now real-life husband Ranveer Singh’s character Sultan Alaudin Khilji had a certain kind of lust for her.
Both the movies performed extremely well at the Box Office and Padmaavat even went on to become the highest grosser of 2018, giving Deepika an assurance that she could play a queen well. But during a recent interaction when she was asked if she would like to play a queen again, she rather grunted and gave a certain answer in “No!”
But then what Deepika said was something that would totally win all hearts! “Queen of Ranveer’s heart maybe, but that’s it. It’s the only on-going role. It’s like continuity. But other than that, I think we can give that role a break, no?” added Deepika.
Ranveer and Deepika got married in Lake Como, Italy on November 14 and 15 in Anand Karaj (keeping in mind Ranveer’s culture) and South Indian wedding ceremony (to respect Deepika’s culture). The two have made appearances together ever since – be it at wedding receptions, or when Deepika celebrated Ranveer’s recent release Simmba’s success.
