Watch : Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam and Mohit Raina talk about Uri: The Surgical Strike's success, their future projects and more in this exclusive interview

In hindsight,'Uri: The Surgical Strike' director Aditya Dhar feels he took a huge risk by casting Vicky Kaushal as a solo hero in his film. But boy, did the gamble pay off?

The war-drama has emerged as the first hit of 2019. 'Uri' started high on josh on Friday. It stands at a grand total of Rs 35.73 Crore in India after three days of its release, which is phenomenal for a film made on a budget of Rs 25 crore (approx). The film's box office numbers have also establised Vicky Kaushal's status as a bankable star.

Ask him what is the best compliment he has received for the film so far and he says, with a wide grin on his face, "The claps, the Jai Hind ka naaras, the whistles in the theatre halls."

After closing 2018 on a high note with films like 'Raazi', 'Manmarziyaan', 'Sanju' and kickstarting 2019 with a bang with ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ - the talented actor is now set to begin work on Karan Johar's ambitious project 'Takht', co-starring Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan among others.

However, before 'Takht' goes on floor, Vicky revealed that he has already begun shooting for another film, a horror flick. The yet untitled film, will reportedly be produced under Karan's Dharma Productions and will mark the actor's first outing in the horror genre, which by the way he is not a huge fan of.

Coming back to 'Uri', the film also marked the Bollywood debut of 'Mahadev' fame Mohit Raina. The handsome hunk may have made a stunning entry into Bollywood but he has no intentions of quitting television. He wouldn't mind returning to the small screen if he gets offered a 'different' role.

Aditya's war-drama also featured Yami Gautam. The Kashmiri beauty may not have two-three releases every year but she is definitely making the critics and audience sit-up and take notice of her work. She is satisfied with her career trajectory and says she would never do films just to fill-in her calendar.
