'Uri: The Surgical Strike' Box Office Collection Day 3: Vicky Kaushal's war drama earns Rs 35.73 crore

Vicky Kaushal's military drama 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' has emerged as 2019's first hit. In just three days of its release, the Aditya Dhar directorial has minted Rs 35.73 crore. It opened at Rs 8.20 crore on Friday and saw 51% growth on Day 2 and earned Rs 12.43 crore. On its third day, it grossed Rs 15.10 crore.

Sharing third day figures, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#UriTheSurgicalStrike emerges the FIRST HIT of 2019… Indeed, 2019 has started with high josh… Sets the BO on on Day 3… Packs a solid total in its opening weekend… Fri 8.20 cr, Sat 12.43 cr, Sun 15.10 cr. 'Uri', that also stars Paresh RawalYami Gautam and Mohit Raina in key roles, is based on the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army on seven terrorist launchpads across the Line of Control on September 29, 2016, in retaliation to a terrorist attack on an army camp at Uri earlier that month.

Vicky described the feeling as surreal."Till the film is released, you don't have an idea if it is going to work. But since yesterday, the kind of reaction we have received is really overwhelming. It's a surreal feeling that audience has accepted our film with open arms," the actor told media.
