Vikrant Massey is all set to be seen opposite Deepika Padukone for the first time in the upcoming film, Chhapaak. In the film, he will be seen playing the role of a social activist, who goes on to marry Deepika's character in the film. Both Deepika and Vikrant's characters are modelled on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal and her husband-social activist Alok Dixit. DP started prepping for the film last week and the shoot kickstarted on Monday.
While talking about his character, Vikrant stated to Mumbai Mirror, "Alok has been working with acid attack survivors for a while now and has been through the entire struggle with Laxmi. The film will showcase interesting dynamics between the two." The talented actor will be joining Deepika in Delhi from Friday. Vikrant went on to reveal that he has been asked to gain about eight kilos for the role and thus he is 'binging on anything and everything, from sweets and saturated fats to junk food'.
On being asked about working with Deepika, Vikrant further said, "Working with an actress of her calibre is not just an opportunity but also a huge responsibility. I’m both nervous and excited,” he admits, quick to point out that through this heartfelt tale of trial and triumph, the audience will see Deepika in a new light. “The story will resonate with the world."
Chhapaak is being helmed by Meghna Gulzar and it marks Deepika's debut as a film producer. The movie is hitting the screens on January 10, 2020.
