Vivek Agnihotri's The Vaccine War is about how Indian scientists developed the indigeneous vaccine during the Covid-19 pandemic. The film releases in cinemas on September 28.

Vivek Agnihotri is awaiting the release of his upcoming film The Vaccine War, which is based on how Indian scientists developed India's indigenious vaccine against Covid-19. The film features Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Raima Sen, Anupam Kher, Girija Oak, and Sapthami Gowda in the leading roles.

In a recent interview, Vivek Agnihotri shared extensive details about his upcoming film and said that The Vaccine War is actually not about the Covid-19 warriors. Speaking to Galatta Plus, the filmmaker said, "(The film) It's not about warriors, it's a victory film. It is a war film. When you say Covid, you think about the frontline workers and doctors and patients, bu you don't see any patient or doctor in the film. It's about a bunch of scientists."

The Kashmir Files director added, "When Covid came, most of the world said India will perish, even Indians felt that. Then, a very small but very powerful section started saying that 40-50 crore people will die. Some people wanted more Indians to die because of political reasons. This is truth, I have no doubt in my mind that a lot of people wanted that more people die in India so they can attack the government of that day. As India was the bggest vaccine market then, lots of foreign agencies were arm twisting and blackmailing the Indian government to buy their vaccines."

"When the second wave (of the Covid-19 pandemic) came, then these people found their 'aha' moment. That's why if you see the whole oreintation of the coverage of the second wave was showing Hindu funerals because they wanted to settle a political issue with the government and at that time, certain scientists who believed that India can do it while others thoughts India can't do it and how they made the world's fastest indigeneous vaccine. This is truly a superhero film, a genuine authentic superhero film", Vivek concluded.

Touted to be India's first bio-science film, The Vaccine War will clash at the box office with Fukrey 3 on September 28. The threequel in the comedy franchise features Pankaj Tripathi, Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, and Richa Chadha in the leading roles and has been directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.
