Wait, WHAT? Did Shraddha Kapoor really charge Rs 7 crore for 'Saaho'?

Shraddha Kapoor is currently neck deep in promotions for Saaho along with her co-star Prabhas. While the Sujeeth directorial took a good two years to complete, the salary of its leads have been much speculated upon. Several reports floating around suggested that Shraddha Kapoor was paid a sum of Rs 7 crore for the action entertainer, but is that really true?

Well, a recent report on Deccan Chronicle suggests otherwise. If the said report is to be believed, then the news that Shraddha got Rs 7 crore as fee for Saaho has no truth to it. In fact, the report goes on to suggest that it was all just a publicity gimmick by the PR. 

A source close to the developments was quoted as saying by the daily, "This is only her publicity machinery at work. An impression is being created that she has been paid a certain amount in Tollywood to increase her fee in Bollywood. But the truth is that she has been paid a far less amount."

The report also adds that the makers of Saaho had to turn down Katrina Kaif as the amount she quoted for her fee was far more than what they were willing to shell out. Apparently Katrina was the first choice to play the female lead in Saaho. The source further told the daily, "The Saaho makers couldn’t afford to pay Katrina Rs 5 crore, which is how much she asked for."

The source also shared that actresses down South get paid far lesser than what they earn in Bollywood. He added, "The budget for hiring heroines in Telugu cinema is a lot less compared to Bollywood. These girls from Mumbai who work in Telugu cinema work for much less money in the South than what they demand in Mumbai. To spread the rumour that Shraddha got Rs 7 crore for Saaho is damaging for both the South and Bollywood film industries."

This doesn't end here. If the said report is anything to go by, then Shraddha Kapoor was actually paid Rs 3 crore as fee for Saaho. 

Well, speculations had also suggested that Prabhas was charging a whopping sum of Rs 100 crore for Saaho. However, Prabhas had himself cleared the air about his remuneration and told Mumbai Mirror, "Bahubali has set the bar high, but Saaho was a Rs 250 crore film, so I knew I couldn’t charge my usual remuneration. I started out with a 20 per cent cut. Then, the film went slightly over and though my friends were ready to pay up, I couldn’t take their money knowing they were putting in so much without thinking of what they’d earn.”

So how much did Shraddha actually charge for Saaho? Guess we'll have to wait for the actress to clear the rumours once and for all!
