Earlier, Jaya Bachchan objected strongly to being called 'Jaya Amitabh Bachchan' in Parliament. Now, the veteran actress and politician got into a fight with VP Dhankar because of his 'tone'. The opposition led by Sonia Gandhi walked out of the Rajya Sabha in support of veteran actress and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan.
After a heated argument in the Rajya Sabha between Jaya Bachchan and VP Dhankar, the opposition walked out of Rajya Sabha and the actress and politician demanded an apology from VP Dhankar for his 'tone'. Jaya told ANI, "I objected to the tone of the chairperson. We are not schoolchildren. We are all seniors, especially when the Leader of the Opposition (Mallikarjun Kharge) stood up to speak, he switched off the mic. How can you do this? This is against tradition. If you don't let him speak, what have we come to do? He always uses unparliamentary words. He said that I don't care if you are a celebrity... This is an insult to women. I want an apology."
Bachchan questioned Dhankhar's "tone" in Parliament, triggering a rebuke from the Rajya Sabha Chairman. Bachchan expressed her disapproval stating, "I Jaya Amitabh Bachchan would like to say that I am an artist, I understand body language, expressions. I am sorry to say that your tone is not acceptable. We are colleagues, you may be sitting on the Chair...." Dhankar interrupted Bachchan, urging her to take her seat.
VP further added, "Jaya ji take your seat. You have earned a great reputation. An actor is a subject to the director. You are not seeing what I see from here. I am a person who has gone out of the way. Enough of this. You may be a celebrity, but you have to understand decorum."
Earlier too Jaya Bachchan got furious when Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh called Jaya Bachchan as Mrs. Jaya Amitabh Bachchan. On this, she expressed her strong disapproval and said that only Jaya Bachchan spoke was enough. When she was told that this is her name written in her documents, the actress had said, "This is what something new has started that women should be known by their husband's name. They don't exist. They have no achievements in themselves."
