Karan Johar, who had bought the rights of author Amish Tripathi’s Shiva trilogy, is not making the film anymore.
The filmmaker dropped the project for fear of repurcussions of making a film on a Hindu God. Amish has another explanation, “The contract had expired. There were various issues but Karan and I have parted as friends.” Amish, who is busy promoting his latest book, Sita Warrior of Mithila, adds that a fresh contract has been signed with a new studio and they will be making an announcement soon.
When Karan was producing the film, Hrithik Roshan was in talks for the lead role. Will that change? Amish says, “Now, the new studio and the new director will decide.” Watch this space.
