Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali

After Priyanka Chopra walks out, Deepika Padukone steps in

Deepika Padukone has been Sanjay Leela Bhansali's muse for many films now. After Goliyon ki Raasleela Ram-Leela in 2013, Deepika was Bhansali's first choice for his period dramas Bajirao Mastani and now Padmavati too.

So no surprises that Miss Padukone came to Bhansali's rescue after Priyanka Chopra left him in a lurch. According to The Quint report, Deepika Padukone will also be part of Bhansali's Sahir Ludhianvi biopic to be produced by him and directed by Jasmeet Reen. Deepika will be playing the role of famous poetess Amrita Pritam, the role which PC was supposed to play initally.

Abhishek Bachchan who has been doing ensemble films of late will be stepping into the role of a lifetime with this one. He will be playing the role of Sahir. According to the report, Junior B is not even considering any other offers and wants to give his best to this role.

Abhishek has ceased to consider any  other offer for now, choosing to focus unconditionally on the character of the poet who re-wrote many   of the rules of filmy poetry.

Abhishek, who has been lying low lately, has lost close to 12 kilos to play the lean and luminous poet. He has been quietly familiarising himself with Sahir’s lyrics, some of them — Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hoon and Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein — were lip-synced by his father Amitabh Bachchan in Yash Chopra’s Kabhi Kabhie.

This biopice will see Abhishek playing a real-life character for the third time in his career after Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey and Guru. Although his wife Aishwarya and dad Amitabh have worked SLB, this will be the actor’s first collaboration with the filmmaker.
