Bosco Martis talks about the songs that he has choreographed for both the actors in Zero

The trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s ambitious project Zero has generated a lot of buzz among film buffs. While Aanand L Rai gave viewers a glimpse of two songs from his directorial already — one starring SRK and Salman (in the Eid promo) and the other with King Khan in Jab Tak (that was seen in the trailer) — there are two other numbers that feature in the romantic drama. Bosco Martis, who has choreographed both the tracks, tells us more about them...

SRK’S MOOD QAWWALI

One of them is a qawwali. “It’s a mood-based situational song. Some portions of it were visible in the trailer when SRK is seen running in his kachchha (boxers) on the road,” says the choreographer.

The Bollywood Badshah’s last qawwali was Tumse Milke in Main Hoon Na (2004). However, Bosco says that the one in Zero is slightly unconventional. “We have designed something special. It doesn’t have a signature move, but will appeal to the audience,” he states.

‘SHAH RUKH NEVER COMPLAINED’

The actor plays a vertically-challenged man in the film, and getting the character right involved tedious VFX work. That made shooting the song ‘difficult’, adds Bosco. “When we were filming the track, which took us seven nights, we didn’t know how it would turn out. But when we saw the final result, we were more than happy. Shah Rukh never complained. His belief in the film can be seen in the way he has pushed himself beyond his comfort zone.”

KATRINA IN A DIFFERENT AVATAR

After Hrs was the first to tell you that the movie’s team was filming a song with Katrina in Mumbai. Bosco mentions, “With Katrina, you can’t expect anything but a high-voltage dance number. She’s come a long way when it comes to dancing. The whole look and picturisation distinct from what she has done before. We are in the process of filming and it should be out soon.”

He also asserts that this song will feature the lissome lass in a different avatar. “We have done Pashmina (Fitoor, 2016) and Kaala Chashma (Baar Baar Dekho, 2016) with her. This is one of the biggest dance numbers that we have shot with her in terms of scale,” he concludes.
