In India, having a PAN Card as well as Aadhaar Card has become very important now. Without these two, no financial transaction can be completed. If you don't have a PAN card yet, here is how you can get an e-PAN issued within minutes for free. Make sure you know these things before getting a PAN card.
The PAN card has a 10 digit number, which the Department of Income Tax issues. To make the process for obtaining PAN even more smooth, especially during COVID-19, the facility for Instant PAN was introduced. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 28, 2020, officially launched the instant Permanent Account Number (PAN) facility which uses Aadhar number-based e-KYC.
According to the Income Tax Department, it takes about 10 minutes to issue an e-PAN card through Aadhaar card under the instant PAN facility. So far, about 7 lakh PAN cards have been issued under this facility.
The PAN Card is also issued through NSDL and UTITSL. But both these institutions charge some fee for this facility. On the other hand, if you apply for PAN card through the income tax department portal, then you do not have to pay any fee.
This facility is for individuals seeking to obtain a unique identity for the first time. The hassle-free facility gets a PAN Card allotted to you in just a few minutes using just a few clicks. The allotment process is paperless and an electronic PAN (e-PAN) is issued to the applicants free of cost.
The person applying for PAN card will get PAN card in PDF format and you will have to download it. It will have a QR code along with your important information like your name, date of birth, photo, etc. On completion of the application process, you will get a 15-digit Acknowledgment Number. A soft copy of your PAN card will also be sent to your e-mail ID.
