Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented Union Budget 2021-22 in Lok Sabha on Monday (January 1). This Budget was special in many ways as it was being presented amidst challenges like coronavirus pandemic. In such a situation, the eyes of common people and special people werre set on the announcements.
Here's a list of what got costlier and what got cheaper
1. What got costlier?

2. Mobile phones
Some parts of mobiles will move from the 'nil' rate to a moderate 2.5%.
3. Chargers
A few exemptions on parts of chargers and sub-parts of mobiles will be removed.
4. Solar Inverters
Budget 2021 raises duty from 5% to 20%.
5. Solar Lanterns
Budget 2021 raises duty from 5% to 15%.
6. Auto parts
Customs duty on certain auto parts to be increased to 15%.
7. Cotton
Customs duty increased to 10%.
8. Raw and yarn silk
Customs duty increased from 10% to 15%.
9. Crude palm oil, soyabean & sunflower oil
Agri infra cess of 17.5% on crude palm oil, 20% on crude soyabean, sunflower oil imposed.

11. Gold, silver and dore bars
The customs duty on gold and silver was reduced to 7.5%.
The duty was reduced on other precious metals including gold dore bar, silver dore bar, platinum, gold/silver findings, and precious metal coins.
12. Steel
Customs duty reduced uniformly to 7.5% on semis, flat, and long products of non-alloy, alloy, and stainless steels.
13. Nylon clothes
BCD rates on caprolactam, nylon chips and nylon fibre & yarn reduced to 5%.
14. Copper items
Duty on copper scrap reduced from 5% to 2.5%.
15. Naphtha
Customs duty on Naptha reduced to 2.5% to correct inversion.
