'9 pm 9 minutes': Ratan Tata supports PM Modi's 'lights out' call with candle

An image of 82-year-old Ratan Tata with a candle has been going viral

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had annoucned that Indians should switch off the lights of their house and spare 9 minutes at 9 pm to light up with candles, diyas, torches or flashlights. Ratan Tata, the chairman of Tata Trusts, was spotted doing the same on Sunday, April 5, 2020.

Ratan Tata, aged 82, was captured showing his support to PM Modi's 'lights out' call. Seen with a mask over his neck, Tata, in checkered shirt, pants and floaters, was seen snapped while he was walking with a candle lit up inside a golden plate.

82-year-old Ratan Tata received a lot of praises for showing his support. He also tweeted that we as Indians must unite to fight the battle against coronavirus. "This is the worst crisis we have faced, and we must fight this with a spirit of solidarity, resolve, empathy and understanding. We must unite to win the battle against COVID-19," read the image on his tweet.

Tata Trusts contributed Rs. 500 crore to fight coronavirus. The donation would be used for - personal protective equipment for the medical personnel on the frontlines, respiratory systems for treating increasing cases, testing kits to increase per capita testing, setting up modular treatment facilities for infected patients, knowledge management and training of health workers and the general public.
