KUALA LAMPUR: Budget airline AirAsia will fly daily to Trichy in South India from Kuala Lumpur effective in October, offering a two-way flight for RM400 (Rs.5,000 or nearly $125) inclusive of airport tax.

AirAsia chief executive officer Tony Fernandez told Tamil daily Makkal Osai in an interview published Wednesday that the flights would provide more opportunities for budget travellers to fly to India.

Malaysian Airlines, the national carrier, has also increased the number of its flights to and from India in recent years with tourist traffic growing at a phenomenal pace, The Star newspaper said.
