The salary hike is effective from June 1.

Indian IT services giant Wipro has given high single-digit salary hikes to offshore employees and offered a low single-digit increment for employees onsite, this year, a media report said on Tuesday. The development comes as the company plans to hire more local talents across its global offices.

According to an Economic Times report, the Bengaluru-headquartered company announced “substantially higher” increment for people with emerging technology skills.

“Wipro has announced salary hikes for eligible employees, effective June 1, 2018. On an average, the increments are in the high single digits for offshore employees while increments for onsite employees are in the low single digits. Top performers and those working on future-focused niche technologies and domains have been rewarded with substantially higher increases,” a Wipro spokesperson said.

The salary hike is effective from June 1.

All top IT services firms such as Infosys and Capgemini announced mid to high single-digit hikes for their employees as they see faster growth opportunities in emerging technology services while legacy technology business deteriorates.

They are also hiring more local talents, especially in the US where the Donald Trump administration alleges that H1B work visa programme is being abused to replace Americans with foreign workers.

Last week, Wipro's Chief Strategy Officer Rishad Premji said the company is localising more in the US and more than half of its workforce in the country now consists of locals.
