MUMBAI: Wadia-promoted Bombay Dyeing & Manufacturing Company said on Monday that it has posted a net loss of Rs 103.97 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, while it registered a net profit of Rs 18.77 crore over the corresponding period year ago.
The company commenced commercial production of polyester staple fibre last October. Hence, figures for the current quarter are not comparable with that of previous year.
The total income rose to Rs 255.52 crore in the quarter under review, from Rs 173.75 crore in the same period last fiscal, Bombay Dyeing said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
For six months ended September 30, the Apparel-maker registered a net loss of Rs 152.31 crore, while it had posted a net profit of Rs 46.44 crore over the year-ago period.
Total income rose to Rs 588.06 crore for the six-month period, from Rs 304.72 crore in the same period last year.
Shares of the company closed at Rs 149.20, down 8.94 per cent on the BSE.
