Chennai and several coastal areas of the state were on Wednesday marooned in flood waters following incessant heavy rains that pounded the city and the neighbouring districts cutting the state capital from rail and road links even the airport was shut down for the day.

The rains have broken a 100-year-old record with one day's rainfall covering a month's average which also flooded areas in Vadapalani, Valasaravakkam and Nandamvakkam as nearby lakes overflowed into the city.

Various organisations are providing food for people stranded in floods. 

Food delivery provider Zomato has also come up with Chennai Flood Relief packages. This facility is provided by a range of restaurants in Chennai starting at Rs 100.

Restaurants like Kolapasi, Prems Graama Bhojanam, Adyar Ananda Bhavan, Dindigul Thalappakatti, Nawaab Sheikh Biriyani, Meat & Eat and Katti Roll is providing meals for  two people at Rs 100, meals for four at Rs 200 and meals for 100 at Rs 5000.

People can log in to Zomato and order food online and the food will be delivered in 30 minutes.
