MUMBAI: Emami said it is expanding its ayurvedic and baby care products portfolio.
Aditya Agarwal, director, Emami group of companies, told DNA-Money: “We are currently gauging the customer response to our ayurvedic products in the North. We are more aligned with the markets in North India and hence are test marketing there. In the next three to four months we will launch these products nationally.”
In the ayurveda category, the company is currently test-marketing products like SardiJa (a cough syrup), Lalima (a cure for acne), Femi Plus (ayurvedic uterine tonic for females), Memo Plus (memory tonic), Nirog dant powder lal (a tooth powder) in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and New Delhi.
He said the company will introduce more products in the ayurveda category like tonics for diabetes, blood pressure, stress and hypertension in bottles of varying sizes in about six to ten months time.
“By April, we will bring out talcum powder, soaps and shampoos for babies. We were actually supposed to introduce these products by October this year, but due to certain unforeseen difficulties, the launch has been delayed till April,” said Agarwal.
He also adds that by next winter, Emami will come out with a special cold cream for babies, together with some tonics for countering teething troubles and aiding growth in babies. The budget for the launch of each product is pegged at approximately Rs 10-15 crore.
