Mexican drug trafficker Joaquin Guzman Loera has made it to the Forbes list of world's richest people, while American billionaire Allen Stanford, who has been alleged of committing a multi-billion dollar scam, has failed to make the cut.

Not just Stanford but many other notable names like Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, along with Indians such as Unitech's Ramesh Chandra and Suzlon's Tulsi Tanti have moved out of the elite league of billionaires.

Loera is ranked at the 701st place with a net worth of USD one billion.

The latest list by the American magazine features 793 richest people whereas the number stood at 1,125 last year. In the latest list, there are 38 new billionaires.

A total 355 individuals moved out from last year's league of billionaires and out of them, 80 had fortunes derived from finance or investments.

According to Forbes, 29 Indian billionaires dropped out of the latest list. Last year, there were 53 richest people from India.

"Mexico's most wanted man 'El Chapo', or Shorty, heads the Sinaloa cartel, one of the biggest suppliers of cocaine to the US... (the) US government is offering a USD five million reward for his capture," Forbes wrote about Guzman Loera.

About Stanford, the magazine noted that he has bigger things to worry about than losing money. "The SEC has only filed civil charges against Stanford at this point, but criminal ones could be coming," it added.

Meanwhile, other individuals who moved out of the list include insurer AIG's biggest shareholder Maurice Greenberg, former chairman of Iceland bank Landsbanki and Sanford Weil, former CEO of Citigroup.

"India has more drop-offs this year than billionaires: 29 tycoons fell off while only 24 return to the ranks."

"Among the notable drop-offs are flamboyant liquor tycoon (Vijay Mallya), India's wind man (Tulsi Tanti) and a good friend of the country's richest man Mukesh Ambani (Anand Jain)," the magazine said in an accompanying report.

Ranked at the 86th position, Ramesh Chandra had a net worth of USD 9.6 billion last year. He is estimated to have lost USD 9 billion.

Other Indians who have moved out of the Forbes list include Jet Airway's Naresh Goyal, veteran investment banker Nimesh Kampani and Indiabulls group's Sameer Gehlaut.
