The car will be undergoing only cosmetic changes.

General Motors is slated to launch the new generation Chevrolet Beat in India in the third week of June according to reports. The Beat, previously showcased in the Auto Expo 2016, will only be receiving cosmetic changes, no mechanical ones.

The news comes after General Motors halted production at its first Indian plant in Halol, Gujarat, as part of consolidation of manufacturing operations in the country. All manufacturing operations will now be operated from its Talegaon plant in Maharashtra.

In terms of design, the new Beat will have a re-designed bumper that will boast chrome accents on the front grille, new fog lamps as well as re-designed head lamps. The new car will also be given a redesigned bumper with revised tail lights.

The engine of the Indian Beat will be based off the M300 platform of the outgoing model. With a 1.0 litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine or a 1.0 litre SDE diesel engine, both versions of the new car will have a manual five-speed transmission. IT will also have a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system.

The prices of new Chevrolet beat, based on ex-showroom, New Delhi is expected to be between RS 5 lakh and Rs 7.5 lakh.

The latest Beat is expected to provide competition to cars like Tata Tiago, Hyundai Grand i10, Mahindra KUV 100, Honda Brio and Maruti Suzuki's new Swift.
