NEW DELHI: General Motors India on Monday reported 4.4 per cent increase in August sales at 6,074 units against 5,817 units during the same month last year.
The company said the August sales comprised 3,020 units of the Chevrolet Spark, 1,514 units of the Chevrolet Tavera, 913 units of the Chevrolet Aveo, 410 units of the Chevrolet Optra, and 217 units of the Chevrolet Captiva.
"With the commencement of production at our new plant in Talegaon, Pune, from tomorrow, we are now in a position to expand volume and remain committed in bringing world class products to our valued customers," General Motors (GM) India Vice President P Balendran said in statement.
The plant has a capacity to produce 1.4 lakh vehicles per annum which can be further enhanced depending upon demands, GM said.
The company had recently announced the setting up of a powertrain facility in Talegaon with an initial investment of 200 million dollar. The powertrain plant will have an annual production capacity of 1.60 lakh units.
GM India is wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation and has a state of art manufacturing unit in Halol Gujarat.
