MUMBAI: Gold plunged by Rs 145 per 10 gram at the opening session on the Bullion market here on Friday due to heavy stockists' selling after weak overseas advices.
Standrad gold (99.5 purity) and pure gold (99.9 purity) started the day steeply lower at Rs 9,100 and Rs 9,150 per 10 gram as against yesterday's close of Rs 9245 and Rs 9,295 respectively.
Ready silver (.999 fineness) suffered a loss of Rs 220 at Rs 17,285. At the global front, gold August delivery nosedived by $18.80 per ounce at the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange on Thursday to settle at $613.80 per ounce due to heavy selling after strong dollar and fall in crude oil prices, dealers said.
Silver may contract fell steeply to $11.05 per ounce in line with gold, they added.
