The company estimated Aggregate Revenue Requirement of Rs 6,131 cr for 2019-20 considering the existing tariff, and arrived at cumulative gap of Rs 451.46 cr

Torrent Power, which distributes power in Ahmedabad and Surat, has sought an increase of 28 paise in the power tariff for Ahmedabad, and a 14 paise hike for Surat, for the next financial year.

Torrent made the prayer before the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) for truing up for 2017-18, and determining tariff for 2019-20. The company estimated Aggregate Revenue Requirement (ARR) of Rs 6,131 crore for 2019-20 considering the existing tariff, and arrived at cumulative gap of Rs 451.46 crore.

Instead of seeking tariff hike, Torrent proposed recovery of the gap by way of additional charge of 28 paise per unit from April 2019 for two years. The additional charge was to recover past under-recoveries, it said.
