AHMEDABAD: Luxury cruising and high life may soon get a Gujarati accent. For, Delhi-based SunSea Group is planning to build a seven-star floating hotel near Surat in the state.
SunSea, which owns, maintains and operates luxury passenger ships, is close to finalising a Rs 7,000 crore plan for developing maritime-related facilities that include operating two luxury passenger vessels, a refrigerated vessel, an international maritime call centre, a maritime hospitality academy, besides the ‘flotel’.
Chairman and managing director of the group Savio Da Silva Furtado said the company plans to invest close to Rs 1,800 crore for starting luxury passenger ferry services on two routes.
Furtado said his company expects to start 800 passenger luxury ferry service each on Okha-Mumbai and Jafrabad-Mumbai routes within the next three months.
SunSea is also looking at launching houseboat services in Gujarat and Maharashtra as well as ‘ayurvedic, medical and pilgrimage’ cruises.
