MUMBAI: Hampshire Hotels and Resorts, which has launched its luxury boutique hotel a while back, is in an expansion spree.
Speaking to DNA Money, Ram Gupta, managing director, Hampshire Hotels and Resorts said, “We are planning to launch our projects in every four to six months and we are aggressively studying the market.”
The hospitality major is planning to launch Hampshire Plaza in Cochin by the end of this year, which will be a 150-key, up-market property. It is also launching projects in Chennai, Noida, Navi Mumbai and adding to its existing projects in Cochin and Hyderabad. The hotel chain, which is targeting the age group of 25-45 years, is planning to add 2600-2700 upscale rooms to its kitty. The company would be launching its Jaipur project by 2011, which would bring its total operational projects to 11 by the end 2011.
“We are also looking at Tier II cities and additional projects in metros,” Gupta added.
Leela is expanding
Hotel Leela Venture, which has committed Rs 3,000 crore for its expansion for the next three years, is rolling out two properties this year.
Rajiv Kaul, senior vice-president, Hotel Leela Venture, said, “We are opening The Leela at Gurgaon, which will have 320 rooms and 90 serviced apartments.”
The company is also opening a 80-room hotel Leela Palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan. In September 2009, it is planning to launch Leela Palace at Chennai, a 360-room hotel. Leela will also be launching projects in Pune and Hyderabad in the same year.
