Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India ( HMSI) launched its first BS - IV regulation norms compliant motorcyle CB Hornet 160R on Thursday at Goa.

The bike is priced Rs 79,900 (ex-showroom New Delhi).

Competing with the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ-S FI, the CB Hornet 160R has replaced the CB Trigger whose production being stopped in August this year.

It will be available in 21 cities from Friday, and across the country through its 4,200 dealerships from the new year.

Dealers have already strarted bookings the CB Hornet 160R, which had its reveal in early-August at the Honda RevFest event.

Keita Muramastsu, president & ceo of HMSI said,"Honda is proud to announce that CB Hornet 160R is the first motorcycle in its category to meet BS-IV norms, well ahead of April 2017-regulation."

"The CB Hornet 160R is a faster, smarter, sportier machine for the youth," he said, adding that the model was keenly awaited ever since it was showcased in August 2015 at Honda RevFest. With this, we have delivered on our promise of revitalising our product portfolio with 15 new products in 2015," he said.

Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice-president for sales and marketing, said the new model meets the rising preference for higher capacity bikes, especially in the 150-180cc segment, which has been gaining traction of late.HMSI reported 12% decline in total sales at 326,895 units in November. The company had sold 371,764 units in the corresponding month last year.

On November sales figure, Guleria said, "It were down because all warehouses got empty due to Diwali and Dhanteras sales. It takes 6 to 7 days on an average from day of dispatch to the day of arrival at thwe dealership. If you see our October closing figure is the highest ever dispatch."

In terms of volume between April and November HMSI has already done 30.48 lakh units against 46 lakh unit target, which is up from 3% from last fiscal.

The CB Hornet 160R comes in two variants -- Single Disc & Dual Disc with CBS-- and marks the 15th bike model from the Japanese company's stable this year in the country.
