Jeff Bezos sold 1% of his stake in e-commerce giant Amazon for $671 million (Rs 4,463.9 crore) before taxes, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), says a Forbes report.
The 1% stake accounted for was slightly more than one million shares of the company. Bezos now owns a little over 17% stake in Amazon which is around 81.91 million shares.
The report quoted the SEC filing, saying that Bezos gave 3,141 shares (worth $2 million or nearly Rs 13.3 crore) to a non-profit organisation and a gift of 741 Amazon shares — of which no details were disclosed.
The Amazon CEO’s net worth has risen as the company share price has been rising steadily since January 2015. This rise has been high particularly after Amazon’s first quarter net in April beat the experts’ expectations.
In 2015 too, Bezos sold 1 million of Amazon shares over three days and had donated 1,870 shares of Amazon to a non-profit organisation, said the Forbes report.
