Madoff trustees reveal names of possible victims

The list of possible victims of an estimated 50-billion dollar Madoff scam was made public on Thursday, which includes a number of big names such as Citi, HSBC and UBS.

and interestingly also Bernard Madoff himself along with his son Andrew and daughter-in-law Deborah.

The list of Madoff customers, totalling more than 13,000, also includes the name of global audit major PriceWaterhouse Coopers, whose role is being probed in the biggest ever corporate fraud of India, which was disclosed last month by IT firm Satyam's founder Ramalinga Raju.

Another auditing major KPMG, which has been roped in alongside Deloitte to restate the financials of Satyam Computer, also figures on the list, but by way of its name
being attached to one of the Madoff customers.

Besides, there are also names of some celebrities like famous media personality and radio presenter Howard Stern, baseball star Sandy Koufax, but it could not be ascertained whether these were the same people or their namesakes.

There is also an entity by the name of New York-based Reliance International Research LLC, but it is not related to the two Reliance groups of India. 

Besides his family members, the alleged scamster's lawyer Ira Lee Sorkin is also named in the list, filed by the trustees, who have been given charge of liquidation of Madoff assets, with a bankruptcy court here.

The 163-page list has names of the customers, who could be victims of the scam, along with other details like their addresses.

The Madoff family members named in the list include Bernard Madoff himself, brother Peter, his sons Andrew and Mark and daughter-in-law Deborah.

The Citigroup entities named in the list include Citigroup Private Banking, Citigroup Global Markets/Smith Barney, Citigroup Custody Services, Citi Smith Barney, Citibank NA (as assignee) and Citi Markets and Banking.

UBS Financial Services, UBS Luxembourg SA, HSBC Ireland, HSBC Securities Services, Deutsche Bank Capital Market, Deutsche Bank AG (Frankfurt) and Deutsche Bank AG (Dusseldorf) are also named in the list.

It also comprises PriceWaterhouseCoopers and David Eisig of KPMG LLP.
