Think School, a Pune-based startup, has reached millions of people on YouTube through its explanatory content. Its informative content, business lessons and geopolitical approach to explaining business concepts have found immense popularity among young students and professionals from Tier-2, and Tier-3 cities, who have knowledge but fall back on communication skills.
ThinkSchool's YouTube channel has pre-recorded and live courses.
Who are the founders of ThinkSchool?
Think School was built by two engineers-- Ganeshprasad Sridharan and Parsh Kothari--who are self-confessed rebels in the Indian education system.
While Parsh takes care of the operations and Ganeshprasad S is the face of ThinkSchool, who handles the content. They run an online school that has pre-recorded and live courses.
Ganesh completed his engineering from Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, while Parsh pursued his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial and Production Engineering from Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
In 2019, with as less as Rs 25,000, Ganesh and Parsh rented out a small place in Pune and started teaching students like public speaking, problem-solving and resume writing skills, among others.
By the end of 2019, they had over 100 students. Following this, they started visiting colleges. However, they weren't too successful in penetrating into the education system. That is when they decided to take ThinkSchool online.
Ganeshprasad and Parsh registered their company Think School LLP in 2019 and their YouTube channel has 3.44 million subscribers as of today. The top competitors of Think School include Udemy, Simplilearn, upGrad, Coursera and Degreed. Think School is trying to address the problem and provide solutions for upgrading the communication skills of young India while making them on par with their metro counterparts, the start-up stated.
ThinkSchool's popular videos
With their mission to teach all about business, geopolitics and economics, ThinkSchool provides an education that truly prepares you for the real world. With this aim, ThinkSchool has explanatory videos on everything from India-Canada row to football.
Their economic case studies, history of Indian empires among others are immensely popular among the youth.
Ganeshprasad, COO of Think School had told CNBC-TB18, "India's robust domestic market and skilled manpower is helping to keep a steady economic growth within global economic headwinds. We realised the importance of communication skill when we secured placements in MNCs after our engineering. We found that while securing a job in an MNC, soft skills like the ability to communicate, body language etc. matters much more than the technical knowledge that we were taught in college. So, we came to the conclusion that more support is needed in terms of developing skill-oriented courses."
