Dr Praveer Sinha is the CEO and Managing Director (MD) of The Tata Power Company Limited, a Tata Group electric utility company based in Mumbai. He has been leading the company since May 2018. He has over 30 years of experience in the power sector. Sinha has held several leadership positions across the sector.
The Tata Power has a market capitalisation of Rs 84,869 crore as of September 18 on NSE. The share price of the power company was Rs 265.80 on Monday on NSE. He completed his graduation in electrical engineering. Sinha holds a Master of Business Law from the National Law School, Bangalore.
He received his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. Sinha is a visiting research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston, US. He is the chairman of the CII Western Region Council and co-chairs the CII National Committee on Power.
He has been credited with transforming the power distribution sector and development and setting up greenfield and brownfield power plants in India and abroad. Before his current role, he was the CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL). It is a Public Private Partnership (Joint Venture) between Tata Power and the Delhi Government.
