Mukesh Ambani is the richest person in Asia and he is the chairman and managing director of India’s most valuable company with a market cap of around Rs 15.35 trillion, Reliance Industries. Reliance Industries is one of the biggest companies in the country with several huge subsidiaries such as Reliance Retail, Reliance Jio, and others under its umbrella. Reliance Industries board is also among the most prestigious in the country with several big names. One such name that adds to the credibility of Reliance Industries Board of Directors is KV Kamath. KV Kamath is a renowned face of the Indian banking sector. Kundapur Vaman Kamath is a mechanical engineer and completed his Post-Graduation in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He is currently an independent director at Reliance Industries.

Mr Kamath started his career in 1971 at ICICI. In 1988, he moved to the Asian Development Bank and spent several years in South East Asia before returning to the ICICI as its Managing Director and CEO in 1996 and after its merger into ICICI Bank, was Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank.

He retired as Managing Director and CEO in 2009 and continued as the Chairman of ICICI Bank until 2015. Kamath has served as Chairman of Infosys. In 2015 he was appointed as the first President of the New Development Bank set up by the BRICS countries from where he retired in 2020. He is currently the Chairman of the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID). Kamath was awarded the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honours in 2008.
