Indian businessman George V Nereamparambil has achieved something that most Indians only dream of, which is owning an apartment in the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building. Not only did he buy an apartment there, but he also became the largest property owner in the iconic building with 22 luxury apartments.
George's journey from a mechanic to a real estate tycoon is truly remarkable. Born in Kerala, he faced financial hardships from a young age, starting work at eleven to support his family. He began by helping his father with cash crop trade and transportation and later started a small business making gum from leftover cotton seeds.
In 1976, George moved to Sharjah, where he saw great potential in the air conditioning business. He started his own company, which eventually grew into the GEO Group of Companies, establishing him as a prominent businessman in the Gulf region.
When his relative said he would never enter the building, George took it as a challenge. In 2010, he rented his first apartment in the Burj Khalifa and later bought several more. Today, he owns 22 of the 900 luxury apartments in the building, making him the largest property owner there.
With a net worth of Rs 4800 crores, George is among the wealthiest entrepreneurs owning property in the Burj Khalifa.
