Many successful businessmen in India began their entrepreneurial journey from scratch. They initially worked for several years for some companies before starting their own business. Years later, many of them have now become billionaires. One such person is Ramesh Juneja, chairman of Mankind Pharma. He co-founded the Rs 85816 market cap company with his brother in 1995.

Now, Mankind Pharma, which makes popular brands of condoms and pregnancy test kits, is set to fully acquire Bharat Serums and Vaccines from Advent International for around Rs 13,630 crore. Mankind got listed in May 2023 at a 20 per cent premium with the Junejas brothers selling part of their stake. According to Forbes, Ramesh Juneja has a real-time net worth of Rs 25130 crore

Ramesh Juneja used to work as a pharma salesman. After completing his graduation in science, he started his career in 1974 with KeePharma Ltd., working as a medical representative. The 68-year-old then joined Lupin in 1975 and worked there as first-line manager for almost 8 years.

In 1983, he resigned from the pharma company to start his own company Bestochem in partnership. In 1994, he withdrew his ownership from Bestochem. Next year in 1995, he co-founded Mankind Pharma along with his younger brother Rajeev Juneja with an investment of Rs 50 lakh. Ramesh has now become one of the richest pharma billionaires in India.
