There are several examples of successful CEOs and MDs who joined their respective companies from the ground-level profile. Some even joined their companies as an intern. One such example is LV Vaidyanathan, who is the managing director (MD) of P&G Hygiene and Health (PGHH), India and Indonesia.
He has been in the position since July 2022. He started his career with P&G in 1995 as an intern. Later in 1996, he joined the sales team of the company in India. He worked in various leadership roles before being promoted to MD.
Vaidyanathan now heads PGHH which has a market capitalisation of Rs 53,236 crore as of August 28. The share price of the company was Rs 16,400 on Monday on NSE. The company owns popular brands such as Vicks in healthcare and Whisper in feminine care.
Vaidyanathan holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Nagpur. He is also an alumnus of IIM, Ahmedabad. He has more than 26 years of experience across diverse geographies like India, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
PGHH has reported an over three-fold rise in Profit After Tax (PAT) at Rs 151.24 crore in the June quarter. The company follows the July-June financial year. In a filing, PGHH said its board in a meeting held on Monday recommended payment of a final dividend of Rs 105 per equity share for the financial year ended June 30, 2023.
