Surya Varshan, a 22-year-old from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, founded the D2C brand 'Naked Nature.' His entrepreneurial journey began in the 12th grade with a humble product, Hibiscus Bath Salt, crafted in his kitchen. Fast forward to today, and Naked Nature boasts a valuation exceeding Rs 10 crore.

In class 12, Surya created his first product using the Rs 200 he saved from pocket money his loving parents gave him, a bath salt infused with hibiscus, leveraging the abundant salt resources from his hometown, Thoothukudi. Despite his age, which caused many to reject his attempts, Surya's drive remained constant. Balancing his studies in BE Engineering in Chennai, he travelled to Madurai every weekend to nurture his budding venture.

Surya’s age often led to scepticism, making initial sales challenging. All the same, he persisted. His first significant breakthrough came when an Ayurvedic physician made an important purchase after being impressed by the bath salt samples. This turning point boosted Surya's confidence, encouraging him to go to a college in Madurai, where he studied digital marketing through YouTube lessons.

To support his business, Surya offered online classes on digital marketing, earning around Rs 2.20 lakh. He reinvested these earnings into Naked Nature, which now features a diverse range of 70 products spanning bath, skin, and hair care, among others. The brand achieved remarkable success, generating Rs 56 lakh in the financial year 2021-22 alone.

Naked Nature's manufacturing unit is based in Madurai, with products available both online and across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. Today, Surya Varshan stands as a testament to what determination and innovation can achieve, turning a modest Rs 200 into a 10-crore enterprise.
