Ven Ajahn Siripanyo, the son of Anand Krishnan, a Malaysian telecom magnate whose net worth is estimated at around Rs 40,000 crore,  has forsaken a life of luxury to embrace the monk's robe. He is Anand Krishnan, often referred to as AK, manages a diverse portfolio of businesses spanning telecom, media, oil and gas, real estate, and satellite services. His enterprises, such as Aircel, once a sponsor of IPL team Chennai Super Kings, have cemented his reputation as one of Malaysia’s wealthiest individuals.

His son Siripanyo, at the age of 18, made the unexpected decision to become a monk. While What motivated him to take the path to monkhood remains unclear, some accounts suggest that what began as a temporary retreat "for fun" evolved into a lifelong commitment. Choosing to renounce the vast fortune awaiting him, Siripanyo opted for a life of alms and austerity.

For over two decades, Siripanyo has lived as a monk, abandoning the immense wealth he was set to inherit. He now serves as the abbot of Dtao Dam Monastery in Thailand. Additionally, it is noted that through his mother, Siripanyo is connected to Thai royalty, adding another layer to his unique journey.
