Many businesswomen in the country are leading their family businesses efficiently. They also took their respective businesses to new heights. One such well-known lady is Lakshmi Venu. She leads TVS Group's Sundaram-Clayton Ltd (SCL) as managing director. It is an automotive components company based in Chennai. It has a market cap of Rs 27888 crore as of June 28. Laxmi is the fifth generation businesswoman, who has been leading the company as MD for the last two years. Before this, she was joint MD of SCL since 2010.

She is a heiress to the Rs 112000 crore market cap TVS Motors. She is the daughter of Venu Srinivasan, chairman emeritus of TVS Motor Company. Srinivasan has a real-time net worth of Rs 34190 crore, as per Forbes. The TVS Group was established by her great-grandfather TV Sundaram Iyengar.

After completing her primary education at the Sishya School in Chennai, Venu attended Yale University in the US. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in economics. She also earned her doctorate in Engineering Management at the University of Warwick in Coventry, England.

Venu is also the Deputy Managing Director of TAFE Motors and Tractors Limited, a company headed by his mother Mallika Srinivasan as MD. Her brother Sudharshan Venu is the managing director of the TVS Group. In 2011, she married the son of Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy, Rohan Murty. But the duo divorced in 2015. After three years, Lakshmi married Mahesh Gogineni in a private ceremony in Jodhpur.
