Mukesh Ambani is the richest person in Asia and Chairman of India’s most valuable company Reliance Industries which has a market cap of more than Rs 11 trillion. Reliance Industries is also one of the most profitable companies in India. Although many may recognise Mukesh Ambani as the face of Reliance Industries as he is the one who took the conglomerate to where it is today, it is worth noting that the billionaire was not interested in entering the business world. Mukesh Ambani, who now has a net worth of more than Rs 7 lakh crore, wanted to become a teacher before joining Reliance Industries. The richest man in India also wanted to teach at a university or work for the World Bank before circumstances made him join Reliance Industries. Mukesh Ambani’s wife Nita Ambani also wanted him to be involved in teaching for their personal satisfaction.

“Before my father (the late Dhirubhai Ambani) brought me into Reliance, I wanted to work for the World Bank for a while or teach at a university. With my wife (Nita) being a teacher, she is now telling me it’s high time I have taken up teaching. So going forward, both of us will be involved in education a lot more. It’s something we want to do more for our own personal satisfaction." Mukesh Ambani said during India Today Conclave.

Mukesh Ambani’s kids Akash Ambani, Isha Ambani and Anant Ambani are also now involved in the family business and are leading several subsidiaries owned by Reliance Industries including Reliance Retail, Reliance Jio Infocomm and others.
