MUMBAI: Morgan Stanley’s liquidation of Indian equities continued for the second day in a row.
The beleaguered bank sold Rs 1,279 crore of shares on Friday, according to bulk deal data from the stock exchanges.
The firm offloaded 8 scrips in as many deals on the National Stock Exchange for Rs 814.5 crore. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, it sold 25 scrips in 27 deals for Rs 464.9 crore. Thursday’s selling came in 33 new stocks that were not part of its bulk offloading of Rs 871 crore on Wednesday. In two days, it has sold Rs 2,150 crore of shares.
Large-cap names figured prominently with Reliance Capital topping the list at Rs 289 crore. Suzlon Energy and Jaiprakash Associates were also among the big deals.
Unlike Wednesday, it was not a one way street, though.
Morgan Stanley also bought two scrips it sold —- Reliance Capital and Suzlon Energy in bulk deals worth RS 22.3 crore, but that tantamount to just 1% of its total sales.
