NEW DELHI: Anil Ambani-led RCOM is believed to be in talks with Bangalore-based Healthcare Magic to launch India's first 'doctor-on-call' service for providing medical consultation and referrals.
The service will provide live consultation with doctors across the country. The discussions with Healthcare Magic are believed to be in final stages and the service is expected to be launched by December.
RCOM's strategic alliance with Healthcare Magic, a leading consumer healthcare company, will entail developing infrastructure and network as well as revenue sharing.
RCOM's service will offer first level of diagnosis to call-in patients. The patient needs to continue being advised and visit his / her family doctor for final diagnosis after physical check up.
When contacted, a RCOM spokesperson declined to comment. The service will be accessible through a Healthcare Magic Premium Number on Reliance Mobile World. The attending doctor will diagnose the calling patient's problem to understand if it is acute, chronic or emergency condition.
This service will be provided by actual ('live') doctors providing diagnosis instead of automated voice clips giving 'medical tips'. The doctors involved in this service adhere to the guidelines set by the Drug Control Authority.
In case of an acute condition, the attending doctor will give three differential diagnoses depending upon the patient's signs and symptoms. The attending 'doctor on call' will also offer one palliative measure or home remedy to the patient.
