Consumer appliances maker Whirlpool today said it has appointed Sunil D'Souza Managing Director of its India operations.
He will come on board effective June 22, PepsiCo, 2015, it said in a filing.
He joins Whirlpool from PepsiCo, where he was the Head of VIMAPS Business Unit based out of Malaysia, it added.
Arvind Uppal, President, Asia Pacific, Whirlpool Corporation, and WIL CMD, will continue as Executive Chairman of the WIL Board of Directors, it stated.
In his 15 years with PepsiCo, D'Souza has held various senior management positions in Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and India.
"Sunil's rich and diverse experience across general management, strategy, sales, marketing and innovation in consumer-driven industries, coupled with his proven track record in leading and growing large businesses, make him highly suited to lead Whirlpool India," Uppal said.
One of the world's largest consumer durables firms, Whirlpool had about US $20 billion in annual sales, 100,000 employees and 70 manufacturing and technology research centres globally in 2014.
The company markets Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Consul, Brastemp, Amana, Bauknecht, Jenn-Air, Indesit and other major brand names in more than 170 countries.
