Tamil Nadu government has cancelled the allotment of 71 acre plot to Coca-Cola.

On April 20, the government issued a cancellation order for non-compliance of terms and conditions in the agreement signed.

The last was allotted in June 2013 but was amended more than once. Even then, Coca-Cola failed to begin construction of its plant.

Locals and farmers, too, protested against the plant as it weighed heavily on the ground water resources.

The company was planning to spend Rs 500 crore to set up the manufacturing unit.
