NEW DELHI: Telecommunication services provider Tata Communications on Tuesday said it is expanding its network in Africa in tie-up with South Africa's communication network operator Neotel.
Tata Communications has set up a multi service point of presence (PoP) in Johannesburg in association with Neotel, which would integrate Neotel's network for national and regional connectivity, Tata Communications said in a statement.
Through the new PoP customers in South Africa now access Tata Communications' global suite of products, including solutions for voice and data connectivity, managed security services, application traffic optimisation and management, managed storage and hosted applications, collaboration services, server management, co-location and content distribution, it added.
"By launching this multi-service PoP to connect to Tata Communications global network, we will leverage their extensive telecoms expertise to bring international standard services to South Africa," Neotel Enterprise Group Executive Head Stefano Mattiello said.
Tata Communications Managing Director Europe & Africa - Global Data Solutions Claude Sassoulas said: "This is another step forward in our commitment to expand Tata Communications global footprint and deliver unparallelled global network reach for our industry-leading voice and data services."
He further added the bandwidth flexibility and reach Tata Communications could offer with Ethernet and VPN services give their customers the ability to connect all South African offices in a much more cost-effective fashion.
