Tata Motors has launched its second sub-4 metre sedan - the Tigor - at a starting price of Rs 4.7 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 5.6 lakh for the diesel (both prices, ex-showroom, New Delhi). However, Tata Motors is not calling the Tigor a compact sedan as are the sub-4 metre sedans called. Instead, it is calling the new car the 'Styleback', "our re-definition of the compact sedan category," Guenter Butschek, chief executive officer and managing director, Tata Motors said during the launch.
Prices of the Tigor go up to Rs 7.09 lakh. The starting price of the petrol variant in Mumbai is Rs 4.95 lakh and Rs 5.91 lakh for the diesel.
"In just over two months of the HEXA launch, Tata Motors is launching yet another innovation and an exciting offering in a new segment," the carmaker said.
The Tigor is the third product from the IMPACT Design philosophy of Tata Motors.
The Tigor comes in four variants - XE, XT, XZ, XZ (O).
Tata has given the Tigor ABS in all the variants above XT for both, the petrol and the diesel variants.
The third and fourth variants get dual airbags while only the top XZ(O) trim gets touchscreen for infotainment with bluetooth connectivity.
The Tigor will draw power from a 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel capable of churning out 69bhp power and 140 Nm torque while the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol unit makes 84bhp of power at 114 Nm torque.
The Tigor will come in six colour options - Copper Dazzle, Espresso Brown, Pearlescent White, Platinum Silver, Striker Blue, and Berry Red.
The carmaker had started accepting pre-bookings of the Tigor from March 20, 2017, with a booking token of Rs 5,000.
