Rumours that 2,000 people were about to lose their jobs went viral on social media

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Thursday cleared the air over rumours that they were wrapping up operations in Lucknow after media reports suggested the same. TCS addressed the media to debunk the rumours and said that they were just relocating the office from Lucknow to Noida due to rent issues.

“Those who are spreading the rumours that the Company is winding up its operations are baseless. Employees have already been informed about it. Majority of them are ready to be shifted to the new office but some are twisting facts in the media,” clarified Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications Harsha Ramachandra.

A few TCS employees had approached the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government, while others had approached the media with complaints that 2,000 individuals working in the Lucknow officer were about to lose their jobs as TCS as the company had decided to wind up its operations.

The Cabinet minister Swami Prasad Maurya assured employees of government’s intervention if Tata management makes any move affecting jobs of employees. The minister of state for minority welfare said that the government was ready to sort out if the TCS management was having any rental issues with the builders.

TCS had started its operations from a small office on Rana Pratap Marg and later shifted in the bigger office on Station Road in Luck now when it started getting government projects. A few years ago, it shifted its office in a multi-storied building in posh Gomtinagar when it bagged majority of government big projects.

The TCS Luck now management pointed that the trouble started when about over 250 employees workers were transferred to Mumbai, Delhi and Indore offices due to work requirement and overstaffing in Lucknow office.

“These are routine transfers in any corporate house. Employees are shifted from one place to another in connection with their job requirement. Majority of them have already joined their new workplace but a few girls and locals are creating trouble over their transfers,” pointed an official, not wishing to be named.
