Toonz India ties up with Argentinian firm

Media entertainment major Toonz India Animation has entered into a co-production pact with Argentinian Illusion Film to make popular Latin American animated serial Gatturo. According to Toonz, this would be the first animation production tie-up of an Indian animator with a Latin American company.

"The agreement has evinced keen interest in both the countries as this is the first entertainment co-operation between them," CEO of Toonz Animation India, P Jayakumar, told reporters here.

Entering its 10th anniversary, major projects of Toonz India now included a co-production with Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd. (ABCL), of Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, for a full-length animation film called 'Twinergy', directed by Priyadarshan.

The lead character in the film would be the look-alike of Bachchan, who would also be rendering voice to the film. Toonz had been able to make a mark in the global entertainment market, with the animated films produced by it finding way on TV channels world over, Jayakumar said.

Steve Stabler, Hollywood producer of over 150 animated films, said Toonz had been able to place Kerala on the world animation map.
